Welcome to The Landing at Index - located on the South Fork Skykomish River, in the western foothills of the Cascade Mountains, off of Highway 2. With 16 acres of beautiful, private woods and breathtaking views of Mt. Index, this is a wonderful getaway to kick back and relax after your day of adventures, or just to escape the city rush.  The campsite is at the bottom of a rugged drive so an SUV or AWD vehicle are recommended, especially during the wetter seasons of Spring and Fall.  When the property was logged approximately 100 years ago they scooped out gravel from the river to make their roads in the area thus creating the back eddy lagoon along the beach. The Department of Fish and Game have a fish ladder at Sunset Falls just upstream and BNSF railroad owns the large vacant tract down stream. A rather peaceful setting, including the rushing sound of the river and the occasional whistle of a train. You will feel refreshed and rejuvenated after you stay at The Landing. Pets are welcome, there is a toilet on site campfires allowed (when burn bans are not in place).

Campsite 4 ( EAGLE )
Our group booked two sites, this and Campsite 3 - Blue Jay. It's perfect for large groups with a mix of larger families and couples. Sites are spaced out enough to give groups some separation; sound from early risers from campsite 3 didn't wake up campsite 4. The view is stunning. Facilities are clean. Keep in mind you may need to purchase some firewood if you're planning a campfire. Highly recommend - excited for future visits

Campsite 3 - Blue Jay
Perfect Familie & Dog-friendly site
This was my group's second trip to The Landing. Site is beautiful and clean - lots of space for our families and doggies to run around. Site has access to the beach; depending on water level, you might need to step into the water--not a problem for adults, but little ones (kids & dogs) may want to avoid the water. (Site 5 - Osprey has a ramp & steps, but it is connected to another site). We're excited for our future trips to fall asleep under the stars and wake up next to mountain views. Highly recommend campers stay at least one night.

Dave is an excellent host and one of the best campgrounds we have been to. Campsites are private, clean, and along the river creating a magical stay. Looking forward to returning!

Campsite 2 ( Raven's Roost )
The site was incredibly clean, and felt very private even though there were a few other sites nearby. The clearing has a huge firepit, a convenient clothes line, and nice open spaces for pitching a tent. The best part is that it’s so close to the river, you can fall asleep listening to the water. Can’t wait to camp here again!

Campsite 3 - Blue Jay
Restful and Peaceful
We camped Friday and Saturday night. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet. The sound of the rapids by our camp was soothing. We watched a lone Canadian Goose shoot the Rapids. It was nice to sit by the fire. The fire pit has a small round grill that we made cowboy coffee on and heated hot water for tea. There is also a grill you can grill on. Two plastic Adirondack chairs were there for us to use. The outhouse is all wood. No smells at all. Super clean. No cobwebs or creepy crawlies. The tent spot was flat which was really impressive to me. Beach access was right there. We camped site #3. We didnt see or hear the campers on each side of us. Nice and private. We will likely come again but for 3 or 4 nights instead. 2 nights just wasnt enough. I like that it is a long private driveway and the gate locks behind you. We had bear spray with us and there is a sign to be bear aware. We didn't see any bear. All in all 10 out of 10 for what we were seeking for the weekend. We knew going in it might rain the whole time and were prepared for rain. We just wanted to get out of the matrix. Thank you Thompson family for providing a peaceful getaway.
